Many games are designed to change the way a player thinks about something. I’d like to see games designed to help change the way a player thinks about everything.
That’s a different kind of game than anything we’ve played before – it’s taking games from entertainment to social evolution. That’s beyond the scope of what most game development teams can do. It’s going to take collaboration between team members from many disciplines – psychologists, sociologists, historians, anthropologists, economists, mythologists, and more.
That’s why I’m writing this blog – because I want to encourage a more multi-disciplinary approach to game design, and I believe the first step is to provide examples of how that is being done. The next step is to help bring people together to take game design to a higher level.
